實在想像不到，以64歲之齡可以由havana游到key west 共180公里。她可不是第一次便成功，當她第五次站在Key West對岸，心情可想而知。可是，堅持到最後的人，一心為實現夢想的人，就可以站在這個舞台上。
當然，她不是心想游過對岸就可以做到，她曾經是游泳健將，之後更長時間受的馬拉松游泳訓練，加上有一隊專業團隊幫忙才成事，但最重要，游過對的岸的人，還要在沒有防鯊網的情況下，只有她自己一人才可以辦到。當餘下15小時的時候，想像要連續游15小時，已很可怕。有時候，要連續睡15小時也未必能做到。但由1950年開始，她是第一人成功。
